I went with my daughter to pick up her glasses at a little before 4:30 only to find the doors to be locked, even though the hours on the door and on their office voicemail both say they are open until 5pm. I called the UP Health Systems help desk, they put me on hold and they got hold of Dr. Rooney...As the Help desk receptionist is reporting back to me that supposedly everyone has left for the weekend already I can see him turning off the lights as I am standing mere inches from the large glass doors. Infuriating. So if you like being rushed through your eye visit and not being able to pick out your own eye wear then this may be the place for you. Kudos to the front desk ladies though because they were nicest thing about our visit.
My glasses broke in half, kids got a hold of them a few weeks ago & we moved out the area a few months ago. I need glasses ASAP to drive, work, SEE, & right now I don't have the money to pay for an eye exam. I asked the optic dept. to please mail me my Rx (since they can't tell me over the phone) I was told it's expired. I understood that but this is a rare circumstance I plan to save for an eye exam at a more local location, but I need to be able to see. I was mailed a Rx with sharpie all over it, not readable. I called to ask why they would even mail this to me? And was told repeatedly it's expired. I know this, but why would you mail it to me then? Why release the info? Why wouldn't you tell me over the phone before mailing it, you'd be writing all over it & I wouldn't be able to use it? Doctor won't release information to me. Okay, that's great. Now I've wasted weeks thinking I was getting the help I needed to get glasses so I could see, drive. I could have spent that time trying to figure out an alternative. I'm very upset with the customer service & the lack of communication with the "Optics Manager." I'm pretty sure any caring doctor like Dr. Hooper would have understood the severity of my situation. I don't think Dr. Hooper was told what happened. I believe he was told how much the "Optics Manager" hates when people cheat the system. I'm trying to cheat? I'm just trying to see.
