It is worth the wait for a table. The food is incredible and always fast. The margaritas are a must and the view adds to the wonderful aesthetic. I only wish that the wait staff was more attentive. Whenever I go with a group of friends who are all in our twenties it's as if they think we won't tip so why bother checking in on us and giving us refills. Newsflash: we do tip and we are watching when we are treated this way. If the food wasn't so wonderful I don't think I would frequent as often as I currently do.
Sat outside in the sun and had a beverage and appetizers. Pretty setting and decent grub. The menu was enticing but we had other plans so opted to get a couple of snacks. Will be back for lunch or dinner at some point
I wouldn't have normally given this place 1 star, but my last experience has put a huge damper on me ever going back!! My family and I dined here frequently, always enjoyed the atmosphere and food, and tipped nicely. My favorite part has always been coming in near starving and having chips to hold me over until the food would arrive. So when my friend from out of state came to visit us a few days I talked up taking her to Sol Azteca. Eating Mexican food has always been a tradition with us when we get the chance to see each other. We got seated right away. There was a lot of open tables. I noted to my friend they're usually pretty busy. We sat and waited 15 minutes. Nobody came to our table to ask us what we would like to drink. Finally I had to go approach someone myself to let them know we had our orders ready and would like drinks. The waiter came and took our drink order, but we waited another 5 minutes or so before we got them. Meanwhile 4 other tables around us had come in and already had drinks and chips. When we finally got our drinks we asked for chips. He said okay, and proceeded to ignore us again. Another 15 minutes passed and our drinks were now empty. My friend from out of state left the table, went to the front desk and told the hostess "We would like someone to come to our table and ask if we need drinks, chips and our order taken." She came back to the table with the hostess who finally had chips and took our drink orders again. It took about 40 minutes of watching other people be served and collecting bills before someone came to take our orders. I was fuming!! My 4 year old son was going crazy at this point! We got our food an hour later. When we were done I had to go find to go boxes because once we got our food nobody bothered checking on us. I would like to note their wait staff walk very somberly and slow around the restaurant. Show no immediate intent to help anyone. The bill was well over $60, which I had to go ask the front for, and I was not leaving a tip! I will probably not go back on my own free will!
The atmosphere is nice. The food is great and the drinks even better. Your meal starts off with chips and salsa. Nice flavor with a little kick. The waiters and waitresses all very pleasant. Our host was named Jonathan and he took our order, drinks and all for 3 of us without writing anything down. The largest group he has done that with is 12. That was good. The restaurant also has outdoor seating and tables by the window which look out lake superior. Big Windows. Great view from anywhere. A great place to stop.
I come from the great state of Texas, where everything is bigger and better, including our Mexican food.
